Western Australiaâ€™s premier road cycling event is back on the calendar with the 2011 Be Active Cycle Instead Tour de Perth set to head to the hills and the beautiful surrounds of Kalamunda from November 25th-27th 2011. Healthway has come on board with Cycling WA as naming rights partner for the event, promoting the message to â€˜Be Active Cycle Insteadâ€™.The event is set to take place in the beautiful Perth Hills in the Shire of Kalamunda. The Tour de Perth will take place over three days from Friday 25th November to Sunday 27th November.
The evening of Friday 25th will see proceedings kick off in style with an opening event at the new Zig Zag Cultural Centre followed by the first stage of the event which will be high speed Criterium racing contested on a closed road circuit in the centre of Kalamunda.
Stage 2 on Saturday 26th will be a series of graded road race events catering for junior grades right through to the elite riders, and finally on Sunday 27th , finishing in Tour de France style with a Time Trial going up the Zig Zag and racing to the finish line adjacent to the Zig Zag Cultural Centre in Kalamunda.
Stage 3 on the Sunday will also include a community participation ride where families can ride at their leisure from the centre of Kalamunda to the Zig Zag. A full event village will be open on both the Saturday and Sunday where competitors and spectators can grab refreshments and peruse some of the stalls and activities available. A closing ceremony and crowning of the Tour De Perth Champion will take place on Sunday afternoon as the weekend comes to a close.
