The reported defect resulting in the recall of the 2012 GT Avalanche 4.0 mountain bike is that if the front fork support tubes fail, the front wheel may disengage from the frame, resulting in serious injury to the rider. That is the SR Suntour SF11 XCM-V3 fork may have defective support tubes. If both support tubes fail, the front wheel and the bottom case assembly / outer legs can come apart.
