Product Safety Recalls Australia has issued in conjunction with Outdoor Agencies Pty Ltd a recall of Optimus Nova and Optimus Nova+ multifuel stoves; Optimus Nova and Nova+ pumps; Optimus Nova and Nova+ spare parts set light and Optimus Nova and Nova+ Repair Kits.
The specific details of the recalled items where available for sale between January 1, 2009 and October 31, 2010 are:
Optimus Nova multifuel stove (Art. No. 8016276)
Optimus Nova+ multifuel stove (Art. No. 8016277)
Optimus Nova and Nova+ pump (Art. No. 8017904)
Optimus Nova and Nova+ spare parts set light (Art. No. 8016305 + 8520)
Optimus Repair kit Nova and Nova+ (Art. No. 8017632 + 8511)
The reported fault is that a sharp edge left over from tooling for the quick-action coupling and the ON/OFF fuel supply valve of the pump may cause the O-rings to tear. Also, the O-rings used in the fuel hose and in the ON/OFF valve on some stoves can expand with the use of certain kinds of fuel. Additionally, some Nova stoves of the latest production lots may have fuel hoses that are not completely crimped and could detach.
If you have one of these stoves or kits you are advised to stop using them immediately and visit Optimus Stoves of Sweden and fill out the online form. Alternatively users can contact Outdoor Agencies Pty Ltd in Australia on 02 8717 7309 or via email@example.com. Katadyn Products Inc will then send through the necessary parts for replacement / repair. As the available volumes of some of the replacement parts are limited, Katadyn Products Inc cannot guarantee an immediate return. Supply of the replacement parts could take several months.
