Recalled Giant XTC Advanced SL 29er

Certain 2013 model year Giant XTC Advanced SL 29er mountain bikes have been recalled by Product Safety Recalls Australia in-cooperation with the Giant Bicycle Co. Pty Ltd due to an issue the Contact SLR seatposts fitted to these models.

Giant XTC Advanced 29ers Seatpost Defect

It seems, according to Product Safety Recalls Australia that there is a risk that the composite seatposts fitted to 2013 model year Giant XTC Advanced SL 29ers (0 and 1) bicycles may break. The thought of a seatpost breaking sends shivers down my spine.

It also seems that after-market seat-posts that are black with “XTC” and “Giant” marked on the tubes may also break and hence are subject to this recall.

Therefore my suggestion is that if you own a 2013 Giant XTC Advanced 29er or a one of the after-market seatposts you have a chat with your friendly Giant dealer ASAP.

For Australian consumers if you want further information on this recall please contact Giant Australia.
