ROAD SAFETY: RAC Pedestrian and Cyclist Road Safety Forum

The RAC, Western Australia’s motoring group and the vulnerable user representative (don’t follow that one) on the State’s road safety body is holding a “Pedestrian and Cyclist Road Safety Forum” on Saturday May 14, 2011.  Due to demand the initial forum has been split into a cycling forum and a pedestrian forum. The cycling forum is to be held on May 14, 2011.

The RAC has decided to offer limited places to the members of the public to attend. It is a pity that only limited places are offer … surely cyclists and pedestrians should be able to attend in significant numbers; after all it is about our safety?

I would like to know who the “experts” are that will be representing us. It concerns me that we are being “represented” by the likes of the RAC who in my view, hardly in a position to represent my interests as cyclist and I suspect not ours as a collective either..

The above notwithstanding please take a moment to register your interest for the Forum and let the RAC know that there are cyclists and pedestrians out there who actually want a say in their own safety.  You can register your interest by emailing advocacy@rac.com.au or phoning 9436 4524.

If I am able to ascertain the actual date and time of the Forum I will update this post or does anyone have more specific details?.

We will be there as the BTA, and I hope some of our members will be there too.
The positions on the Road Safety Council are a bit hard to get to. They are appointed by the Minister. We did apply, but were unsuccessfull… thus the RAC represents
    all road users.

Great to hear that BTA will be represented. I hope to get there as well.
