South West Mountain Bike Master Plan Survey

Mountain biking is a rapidly growing recreational, competitive, and tourism activity in the South West of Western Australia. The South West Mountain Bike Master Plan is a project coördinated by WestCycle, the Department of Sport and Recreation, the Department of Parks and Wildlife, the West Australian Mountain Bike Association (WAMBA) and the region’s mountain bike clubs. The South West Mountain Bike Master Plan provides the opportunity to create a diverse and sustainable mountain bike destination through the planned development of new facilities, fostering community participation and strengthening regional tourism.

The key goal for the project is to develop a master plan that can be used to prioritise, create and sustain a high quality mountain bike trail network in the South West. The South West Mountain Bike Master Plan will guide investment in the future of mountain biking in the South West by providing the platform for the development of the region as an innovative, sustainable, high quality and exciting riding and off-road cycle tourism destination that holds high environmental values.

The study area for the South West Mountain Bike Master Plan is defined by the three Department of Parks and Wildlife’s districts of Blackwood, Donnelly and Wellington. The area includes the settlements of Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River, Collie, Bridgetown, Manjimup and Pemberton.

If you ride in the South West or have an interest in the future of trails in the region, please take time to complete the following community survey. Survey results will be used to establish a detailed understanding of existing demand, preferred trail systems, desired future trail locations and other general user preferences. All responses will be strictly confidential and will only be used for the purposes of the South West Mountain Bike Master Plan.

The survey contains multiple-choice questions and should take between 5 and 10 minutes to complete and will be open for one month until the 28th of February. If you wish to provide please call David Willcox on 0417 994 366 or email info@commongroundtrails.com
