Specialized Carbon Aerobar with aero stem and hydroformed alloy (model year 2012 – 2015) (areobars) have been recalled by Product Safety Recalls Australia in-cooperation with Specialized due to a possibility that the extension clamp bolt holding the Aerobar in place loosening.
Specialized Carbon Aerobar Defect
Product Safety Recalls Australia are advising that the Specialized Carbon Aerobar extension clamp bolt holding the Aerobar in place may loosen, resulting in potential fatigue and/or fracture of the bolt and if the extension clamp bolt breaks from fatigue the you as the rider could lose control and fall which is likely to hurt.
It seems that these Specialized Carbon Aerobars have been in the marketplace for some time, first being sold in June 2012 until February 2015 when the recall notice kicked in.
