Another short week on the bike as I had disruptions to my riding over the weekend. Weekly average is 299 km a week. Would like to get back up to 400 km a week by year end.
On the weight front, I started the year in a less than healthy position at 103 kg. My weight at the end of the week is 99.8 kg. My target for the month end is 98 kg. On BikeJournal.com I have dropped out of the Top 100 so now need to work on getting back there! In respect to the Australian Cycling Forums Club at BikeJournal.com I have now got back into the top 10, just and still holding on, just. |

PM Churchlands to Fremantle on the Look 555: I headed out the door with the intention of taking the longer route via Melville Waters but it soon became clear the Fremantle Doctor was visiting so bailed and headed to the railway for the short route. Turned out to be a good idea as I was lacking in motivation and had a slow ride over to Fremantle. On the positive side I have nearly adjusted out the brake shudder. Just a bit more adjusting and it should be gone. |

AM – Fremantle to Joondalup via the coast on the Look 555. Pulled out around six AM. Temperature wasn’t too bad and the warm-warmers did the trick. I on the other hand didn’t enjoy the easterly which swung to an ENE at 0730. Even though it wasn’t a strong wind, peaking at 17 km/h it just wasn’t working for me this morning, so about nine minutes off my goal time. Also I adjusted my seat height yesterday and now have a creak, which didn’t help my mood. |

Perth May 4, 2010 PM Joondalup to Fremantle via the coast on the Look 555. Nice ride into a east south wind blowing at around 35 km/h. Road well and had some fun trying to hang off the back of a cyclist between Cottesloe and North Fremantle. The rider was wearing t-shirt, boardies and sneakers and had me in the hurt locker at 40 km/h into the wind. Respect! |

Perth May 5, 2010 AM Fremantle to Joondalup via the coast on the Look 555. Wind this morning was all from the east at 30 to 32 km/h so not very helpful. Had some fun with a roadie from South Trigg Beach carpark to Hillary Boat Harbour. Made me work hard which was good. |

Perth May 6, 2010 PM. Joondalup to Churchlands via the Coast on the Look 555. Perth was clouded in a smoke haze this afternoon and I was little worried about its potential impact on my riding. However heading to the coast and then south into the 32 km/h southerly, it seemed the wind was the bigger issue and the smoke had no noticeable impact. I had a little fun moment in the early stages of the ride. A Peter Brock wannabee in blue Holden Commodore station wagon got a little frustrated with me entering a roundabout, one by the way, where I clearly cleared faster than he could, anyway, I go the corning cutting, throttle to the floor experience as he passed me. Blow me down, but about three or four kilometres down the road, there was the wannabee pulled up on the side of the road trying to change a rear wheel. Yep he had got a puncture :). Karma! I did refrain, just mind you from commenting as a I rode pass. |
