Crank Brothers M10 Multi-Tool

I purchased the Crank Brothers Multi-10 multi-tool from Wiggle Ltd in March 2011 for AU$19.58 delivered. It has been part of my kit on my Kinesis Racelight Granfondo Ltd since then.

Crank Brothers M10 Multi-Tool

This multi-tool is a pretty simple tool consisting of the following tools:

  • Hex keys – 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flat screwdriver
  • t-25 torx tool

The tools are made of 6150 high tensile steel and the casing is made of 6061-T6 aluminium. Crank Brothers claim it weighs 124 grams and I find it weighs in at grams. The tool is 89 mm in length.

As per above it is a basic multi-tool. It does not have a chain tool or spoke spanner or open ended spanner so probably suits more modern bicycles which are predominately hex key screws and the like.

Hows it Performed?

For me it performs well, allowing me to make quick adjustments to the bike when I am out on the road. I found the tools easy to access and of wood quality. No issues to date of the tools showing any wear. The tool itself has not worked loose so the tools are held firmly within the frame.

It is comfortable to hold and use and the length is such as not to be a pain when making those quick adjustments.

It is a basic multi-tool but then I only use it on my commuter so if necessary I can call for a ride if the tool cannot get me out of trouble. I am not bothered with it not having a spoke spanner or chain tool as I do carry a FibreFix emergency spoke which comes with its own spoke tool and a Wipperman Connex connector to resolve broke chain issues (I hope).

Also, its shape means it fits into my saddle bag well.

All up a decent bit of kit at a reasonable price.
