Moora-Watheroo Gravel Grinder Challenge 2013

If you are looking for a little something different in terms of a community ride, check out the Moora-Watheroo Gravel Grinder Challenge 2013 being held on Saturday October 19, 2013.  The Moora-Watheroo Gravel Grinder Challenge is a one day cycling event about raising awareness for mental health in the wheat-belt. It consists of three ride distances and one can enter as an individual or as a team of four.

The three ride options on the day are:

Grommet Gravel Grinder – 17 km

This is a 17 km relay-style ride starting at Coomberdale and finishing at Watheroo.

Gravel Grind – 57 km

This is a 57 km relay-style ride starting at Moora and finishing at Watheroo. Transport back to Moora can be arranged if booked in advance.

Thirteen Off 100 Gravel Grind – 87 km

This is described as a European style event which is a more challenging route of 69 km gravel and 18 km bitumen, totaling 87 km. You can challenge yourself as an individual rider, or enter as a team of four and ride the distance together, as a group, at the pace of the slowest rider. This ride will give a real sense of the wheatbelt – starting with plenty of big trees and lots of shade and moving on to wide, open spaces and great views. There will be plenty of drink stops along the way.

Registration is $25 for individuals and $100 for teams of tour with registrations due by October 16, 2013.

Further information and registration details can be found at the Moora-Watheroo Gravel Grinder Challenge 2013 website or at the event’s Facebook page.
