Happy Birthday – Off to School Next Year :)

Well another year has gone past in the life of the Aushiker blog. My first post as a blogger was made on November 15, 2007 and it was a post on the riding of the Waterous Trail. A Trail which I have since revisited as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course was in existence before the blog, in those earlier days it was a “website”. Remember those? ๐Ÿ™‚

Since November 2007 it has slowly grown, probably slower that it could have but time is always an issue and the list of posts to write never seems to get any shorter.

Hopefully I will make a serious dent in the list over the next 12 months.

For amusement sakes now consists of 1,062 blog posts, so I post an average of 177 posts a year or one every five days. Good bloggers post daily! Whoops ๐Ÿ™‚

The top five posts of all time at are:

  1. Surly Long Haul Trucker Bicycle Owner Review – This post for me really highlights how much we are often staved for information on bicycle gear.
  2. Cape to Cape Track – Walking the Southwest of WA – Great to see bushwalking to counts!
  3. Bibbulmun Track – Kalamunda to Albany: An end to enders perspective
  4. Larapinta Trail End to End Walk
  5. Owner Review – 2008 Look 555

and the top five posts in the last 12 months at are:

  1. Surly Long Haul Trucker Bicycle Owner Review
  2. Cape to Cape Track – Walking the Southwest of WA
  3. Busch & Muller Lumotec IQ2 Luxos Dynamo Powered Front Lights – 2012
  4. GoPro Hero3 Black Edition Owner Review from a Cyclist’s Perspective
  5. Bicycle Maintenance – A Standard Bicycle Service

and whilst the traffic to the site has grown every year till 2012 the traffic this year has declined 8%, I suspect a reflection of the lower posting rate this year plus my decision to spin-off some content to Cycling and the Police in an attempt to keep the tone here a little more positive. That said I must get on to the list of gear reviews!

In closing, whilst I have a long-way to catch-up to my blogging inspiration and fellow cyclist Rodney Olsen I have enjoyed my six years of blogging and wish to sincerely thank-you all for supporting of the blog, and for your comments. I hope I can continue to add some little value to the world of bushwalking and cycling over the next 12 months and beyond.
