Specialized S-Works Evade Helmet Australian Product Safety Recall

Specialized S-Works Evade helmet recall

Specialized Bicycles S-Works Evade helmets sold in Australia from December 2013 to early January 2014 have been recalled by Product Safety Recalls Australia in-cooperation with Specialized Bicycles due to a problem with the helmet’s front strap hanger mould which may crack or become dislodged.

Specialized S-Works Evade Helmet Strap Mount Failure

Product Safety Recalls Australia have advised that there is a risk that the front strap hanger moulded in to the Specialized S-Works Evade helmets may crack or become dislodged causing the helmet to come away from the head. Probably not a great outcome if you are relying on the helmet for protection.

Specialized S-Works Evade Helmets Affected by the Recall

The recall only applies to Specialized S-Works Evade helmets with the following identifying features:

The recalled Specialized S-Works Evade helmets were sold in Australia between December 8, 2013 and January 8, 2014, so a narrow window of time which probably means only a limited number of sales.

Specialized S-Works Evade Helmet Recalled? Action to take

If you are an owner of one the Specialized S-Works Evade helmets referred to above you should immediately stop using the helmet. You should take the helmet to an authorised Specialized retailer for a free inspection to determine if it is subject to the recall. It is unclear what the remedy will be as there is no information available from Specialized.

If you have one of the Specialized S-Works Evade helmets affected by the recall, do please let us know your experience with the recall. It would be really great up anyone can update us on what action is taken with the recalled Specialized S-Works Evade helmets.

More so as I couldn’t find any information on Specialized website about the recall; hopefully I just missed it and Specialized are keeping their customers informed.
