The City of Joondalup currently has a consultation process in place with respect to the development of the Edgewater Quarry. The purpose of the consultation is to seek community feedback on a range of development options for one of the remaining large and undeveloped sites in the City. The consultation period closes Friday, November 21, 2008.
The Northern Districts Cycle Club is seeking your support by completing the survey form and ticking the boxes related to cycling. The following comes from the Northern Districts Cycle Club.
For some years now, past and present members of Northern Districts Cycle club have been lobbying the City of Joondalup for a cycling facility at the Edgewater Quarry site. We have been lobbying for a dedicated criterium circuit and a possible outdoor velodrome along with facilities to provide clubrooms with the possibility of hosting state events. The proposal also included a BMX track and mountain biking trails.
Time has now come for some community consultation and the City of Joondalup are asking for feedback on a number of proposals for this site.
We need your help by asking you to take a few minutes to complete the survey and tick the appropriate boxes relating to cycling, i.e., Cycling track, BMX track/jumps and mountain bike trails. If you are a resident of the City of Joondalup or live in the suburbs of Edgewater, Heathridge, Joondalup and Beldon, this survey is of even more importance.
If you are from another suburb, no problems, just tick the box relating to “Sporting or Recreation Group.” Obviously, the more submissions they receive supporting cycling, the stronger our position will become, so please let as many people you know, who are also cyclists, to complete the survey as well.
Together, hopefully we can get a higher profile for cycling within this state and have some facilities to lessen the dangers involved in racing on roads.
