Product Safety Recalls Australia in-conjunction with Advance Traders Australia Pty Ltd has announced the recall of Merida Speeder S2 flat-bar bicycles due to the possibility of the breakage of the fork-steerer. If you ride one of these entry level flat-bar bicycles please review this recall information carefully and contact your Merida retailer for advice. This is serious defect which if left unattended could result in serious injury or worse.
Merida Speeder S2 recall specifications
All Merida Speeder S2 2011-2012 bicycle models have been recalled. Whilst the model years are 2011 and 2012 this means that the bicycles could have sold as early as 2010 so even if you brought your bike prior to 2011 it would still be idea to talk to your Merida dealer. Merida Speeder S2 defect
The reported defect with the bicycle is that the fork-steerer may break during use which may result in the rider loosing control resulting in the possibility of serious injury or worse.
The affected bicycles contain a steel fork-steerer which may break at the lower steerer tube.
