Just getting this one off my chest. I reported this incident to the Police on September 15, 2011 and followed it up as part of a complaint to the Commissioner of Police on October 7, 2011 as I had got no response.
Well I have now got my response and in essence the South Metropolitan District of the WA Police is taking no action in respect to this incident.
The reason for this is as given by Superintendent Lindley of South Metropolitan District:
The registered owner of vehicle ICUU720 has been interviewed and has no knowledge of incident and stated he was not in the area at the time. The description of the vehicle does not match the vehicle described by you and appears to be an incorrect registration.
Superintendent Lindley is correct, I noted the wrong registration number on the report. I should have given ICCU720 as shown in the video and given in the video description instead I gave ICUU720. I describe the vehicle as black. I guess I got that wrong as well.
Lesson learnt. Double check all the details otherwise the Police will use it as an excuse to do nothing. For the record my complaint of October 7, 2011 was:
WA Police Incident Number 150911 0955 85866 – 1CUU720No response has been forthcoming in respect to this traffic complaint. I am struggling to understand why I have not received any response to this complaint and hence why no further action has been taken.
I therefore request a review of this traffic complaint and can you please explain to the wider cycling community and myself why there has been no action taken in relation to this matter.
I guess we have our explanation. Sadly however Superintendent Lindley did see fit to explain the lack of initial response or to address a number of others matters raised; I guess he is too busy to show good manners.
